Céleste Boursier-Mougenot @ Barbican

As recomended by Laurie Anderson on Culture Show, here is an incredible, live soundscape created by a bunch of birds in Barbican Centre.
So cheerful and fresh, I wish I could go and see it myself!
If you have a chance, it's on by the end of May.

Couch Cushion Architecture

This bBUILD's collection of Couch Cushion Architecture projects, taken from a random search on the internet made me smile.
It looks like they used childrens' creativity for their critical analysis of architecture, methods and design philosophies of living room furniture re-appropriation.

How It Is

Here few photographs I took during our last visit in Tate.
Not the best as it was dark, I didn't have tripod and the fact I forgot my light meter just put me off photographing a bit.
Mirosław Bałka’s installation “How It Is” was disappointing at first as we didn’t experience what was described by critiques.
We were expecting to be lost in complete darkness and separated from the outside world, experience loneliness within the black box but that's not what we found. This piece was about loneliness with relation to the outside, about exaggerating distance between the dark abyss where we were and the light exterior which somehow felt out of our reach. It was also about loneliness we feel among people that here were reduced to black silhouettes of entering viewers, whispers around you.
What was also amazing was how contextual that piece was, in some places it looked like three dimensional negative of the Turbine Hall (reminded me of some of Rachel Whiteread's work).
All very powerful, it's a shame it's not there anymore as I would highly recommend visiting.

The Archigram Archival Project

The Archigram Archival Project allows us to view the work of Archigram free online.
The project was run by EXP, an architectural research group at the University of Westminster. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council with permission from the members of Archigram, who retain copyright of all images.
Hopefully we will be able to have access to a lot of unpublished images and drawings.
If you're interested, feel free to dig in.

...

The events of this weekend were tragic for Poland.
I'm still in shock and must say, to my surprise, I feel vulnerable and very emotional about the loss of the Polish elite that died in the plane crash in Smolensk on Saturday.
I'm sure that this tragedy leaves all Polish people with feeling of deep sadness and insecurity. Here is famous photograph taken by Josef Koudelka in Prague in 1968 that for some reason suits my mood.
Deep condolences to families of the dead and all Polish nation...

Besides the photographic illustration, here is a reference to a musical one:
"On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are"
